2017 UAAP Cheerdance Competition

|Events|

As of yesterday, December 2, 2017, one of the most awaited events in the field of sports here in the Philippines took place at the Mall of Asia Arena. The 2017 UAAP Cheerdance Competition, and luckily I’ve had the chance to get some tickets to watch it live, and this is an entry for my blog to share how my 1st CDC experience was.

Okay, so this started with a whole lot of worrisome because I know that it’s one of the most awaited events every year and the SM Tickets decided to sell tickets on a day where there was no classes, which was a good thing because I can get some myself but a bad thing because there’s a lot more people wanting to get tickets especially students from the universities. I came in to the waiting line at 3 am at November 30th and my queue number was already 519 because they started queuing the day before, so some was already in line at 8 pm of Nov 29.

The line was a struggle because you have all these people with you, anticipating to get some tickets just like me plus battling with some SCALPERS which was really a pain in the butt. In the end I only got some Gen Ad Tickets but for me nonetheless I still got some unlike others who waited for hours but got nothing. FYI, me and my group which were in line, we waited for a whole 9 hours to get some tickets and I could say that is some dedication.

On the day of the event, an early start again for me because for Gen Ad we only have free seating so it’s First Come, First Serve policy for us so we will need to be early if want to get good seats. Luckily me and my brother were fast enough to get some good seats at the side of Far Eastern University which is the side of where the Cheerleaders will be facing.

The event was full of fun and energy, especially with our side because we were beside National University which is a very supportive community with their Pep Squad, plus all the drummers in our area to keep the crowd loud and going. The following was the line-up of performances and some highlights I captured from my seat section:

NU Pep Squad
#AllOutOn5

DLSU Animo Squad
#japANIMO

AdU Pep Squad
#80sFor80

FEU Cheering Squad
#FourElementsUnite

UE Pep Squad
#UnEnding #UnExpected #UltimatE

UP Pep Squad
#KwentongIsko #MaroonAkoIsko

UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe
#ParaSaUSTe

ADMU Blue Babble Batallion
#OneBigFight

Quite frankly, this was one of the most anticipated seasons yet because 1st UP Pep Squad’s Comeback prior to them not performing in 2016, 2nd is NU Pep Squad going for UAAP CDC’s 2nd 5-peat team, and 3rd a season where all the teams are expected to be better which they totally showed to all of us.

Winners? Well you can just check out your Timeline and you’ll see the list in detail. The real shock was AdU Pep Squad claiming the crown, especially when they are newcomers to be in the podium like last year, being in 2nd runner up and this year being the Champions. So congratulations to the new champs, and now I’m really excited for next year’s especially with NU Pep Squad because I’m expecting them to be BEASTS again in the playing field.

CONGRATS TO ALL THE TEAMS AND THE UNIVERSITIES! Til’ next year’s UAAP Cheerdance Competition and hopefully I could finally be in one of those schools!
